Our Glastonbury Recommendations
Welcome to Glastonbury, a charming town nestled in the heart of Somerset! We are delighted to share some local recommendations to enhance your stay in this picturesque area.
Glastonbury Tor is the town’s most iconic landmark, a dramatic hilltop topped by the roofless St Michael’s Tower. Steeped in Arthurian legend and believed by many to be the entrance to the mystical Isle of Avalon, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Somerset Levels. The climb to the summit is a popular ritual for visitors looking to experience the site’s unique atmosphere and historical significance.
Glastonbury Abbey contains the majestic ruins of what was once one of the wealthiest and most powerful monasteries in England. Set within 36 acres of beautiful parkland, the site is famously rumored to be the final resting place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. Visitors can explore the preserved St. Mary’s Chapel and the Abbot’s Kitchen while learning about the abbey’s transformation from a grand religious center to the romantic ruins seen today.
Chalice Well is a peaceful sanctuary nestled at the foot of the Tor, centered around a natural spring that has flowed for over 2,000 years. The gardens are designed for quiet reflection and meditation, featuring the famous “Vesica Piscis” well cover and the iron-rich “Red Spring.” It is a tranquil spot to enjoy the local flora, dip your toes in the healing waters, and escape the bustle of the town center.
